Sobre mí

About Me

Paco Valeriano

I was born in Mérida (Badajoz, Spain) though I soon moved to Barcelona, where I continue living now. I began my music studies at 15 with the guitarist Rafel Sala, who encouraged me (a lot) to dedicate myself to music. I have received classes and attended courses of great guitarists of whom I have learned much, but it was Xavier Coll, my last teacher in the prestigious Escuela Luthier of Barcelona, whom with his good deeds and animosity helped me to conclude the superior level guitar studies… and to feel myself as a guitarist.

In my time as a student I already decided to orient myself towards teaching and due to my personal res tlessness and my own necessity due to the lack of books adapted for classical guitar education at the present time, I have always been thinking and creating material to use in the classes with my students. Several books have been born from this situation, which I have published in the series Cuadernos de guitarra 1, 2 y 3 (Notebooks of guitar) also the book GuitarTracks that I present in this website. I want to dedicate this work to Rafel Sala and Xavier Coll (to whom I owe so much) and also to my friend and colleague Patrick Hopmans, whose advice and example have given a different vision of guitar education (althoug lately the forces of the dark side have dragged him to the electric guitar); and especially my wife, Magda!!!, without whose support and enthusiasm would not have been possible neither this nor the best ever imagined composition... Joan.

I currently teach guitar at the Palau-Solità i Plegamans Music School.
